RS Guitarworks instruments are handcrafted in the USA.

This instrument, believed to be a custom order based on an OBP / Telecaster Bass style, features a paulownia body (known as kiri in Japan) and a maple fingerboard. It is equipped with what appears to be a custom-made pickup, a 41.3 mm bone nut, and a Wilkinson bridge.

The neck is in good condition. There is a slight twist: the treble side is straight, while the bass side shows very slight forward relief. If excessive, this could affect playability, but in its current state it causes no negative impact and instead provides an ideal amount of relief on the bass side.

As expected, the single humbucker delivers a thick, powerful sound, yet with very few unnecessary overtones and a pleasant natural compression. The tone is direct and focused, projecting exactly where it should, making it especially enjoyable to play straight into an amplifier.

OBP and Telecaster-style basses can sometimes suffer from uneven string-to-string balance, but this instrument excels in that regard. From the 4th string to the 1st string, the balance is outstanding. The low strings are controlled without being overly aggressive, while the higher strings retain strong output, resulting in an extremely practical and stage-ready Telecaster Bass.

The signature RS Guitarworks relic finish gives it a dignified appearance that rivals true vintage instruments. All screws used are slotted, further enhancing the authentic 1950s vibe reminiscent of the era when the OBP was originally released.

Despite the relic finish, there are very few signs of actual use, making this an excellent example of a used instrument in great visual condition. Fret life is approximately 80% remaining, the truss rod functions properly, and the electronics are fully operational. This bass is truly ready for immediate use.
