Gibson L-7C Oval Hole w/PU 1963 Electric Guitar
This is an impressive L-7C with oval holes and a cutaway. It's an irregular model.
The body measures 17 inches, and Kent Armstrong pickups were installed later. The side jack allows for full-acoustic use.
The spruce top and figured maple back and sides.
While it shows signs of age and some repairs, it's set up for excellent playability and is in excellent condition.
The neck is nearly straight, and we confirmed there's ample room in the truss rod.
Over 90% of the frets remain due to refretting, and the electrical system is in good condition.
Replaced parts include the tuning machines (recent Kluson), nut, frets, rod cover, bridge, and pickguard.
There are repair marks from the jack to the endpin on the side of the body.
There is wither checking throughout, suggesting it was refinished at an early stage.
We've checked for cracks and bracing, and it's in good condition.
The string height is set low at approximately 1.1mm on the 1st string at the 12th fret, and approximately 1.6mm on the 6th string at the 12th fret, producing a crisp, well-defined sound that is highly practical.
It is currently set with flatwound strings, but the vintage sound with just the right amount of sexiness is one of a kind.
A rare model that is highly recommended.
